Welcome to our auction of this stunning r107 380sl. We are a classic car business in the North East and recently bought this vehicle in for stock but it needs more preparation work than we have the time to undertake at the minute. It is excellent mechanically and drives without fault although we suspect one of the rear brake calipers is sticking slightly it also has a recent stainless steel exhaust fitted.
The car was painted prior to us buying it which looks like a presentable job from a short distance away but upon close inspection there are some preparation marks below the surface of the paint that the trained eye can spot.
In my opinion the car has had the wheelarches and sills replaced which is a bonus as these are a known weakspot on these cars.
It requires the passenger floor panel replaced which is a £200 part from sl shop and also the join between the front and rear floor panels has rotted out – we have exposed the majority of this from underneath the car but it will require the bad metal cutting out and repalcing – it is one long flat piece so a relatively easy job for anyone handy with a welder .
The carpets had faded in the car due to age and the car did not have boot carpets so we have purchased new ones from the sl shop – these cost £800 and if the reserve price is met I will include these in the sale.
There is a hardtop present but in all honesty in in quite poor condition.
With a little work this is a £18/19k car so is a fantastic buy for someone prepared to put in a little effort.
